H.O.T.T.O.G.O.
Everman Blue Thunder is "hot to
go!" If you have been around Blue
Thunder, this
is a familiar phrase to you. In fact, the phrase
started fourteen years ago when a group
of 4-to-8 year olds from Burleson names a T-ball team Blue
Thunder. A new team
with a new coach and a new name took second place in
their league! Many of those
players, along with their coach, went on to the
All-Stars, where they never lost a game.
The following, 1984, those players and coaches left
Burleson and went to Everman to
play 10 & under fastpitch. They continued to be
hot, as they won their league and many
tournaments.
In 1988, they qualified for 12 & under A.S.A.
Nationals in Oklahoma, where they tied for
17th. Since then, going to Nationals has become
routine as the team went in the 1990-
1993. In 1994, they qualified for the first ever 18
& under A.S.A. Gold Nationals, which
were held at the Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City,
OK. In 1995, we won T.A.A.F.
State and in 1996, were the Fort Worth Metro Champions,
again qualifiying for the
National Tournament in Minnesota.
Those girls, who named Blue Thunder,
have all graduated; and along with several
more that followed in their footsteps, are now playing
softball for Texas A & M, Stephen
F. Austin, Mary Hardin-Baylor, University of Texas
Austin, Texas Women's University,
Northwood University, Hill and Ranger Junior Colleges. We
are most proud of them.
Although we will miss our graduates, our new girls have
taken over the role of the old
players well and have made us proud to continue our
phrase H.O.T.T.O.G.O.
Keep up the good work, girls. As you see or hear
the name Blue Thunder, be proud
to remember what Blue Thunder stands
for:
Beautiful sight to behold when your
team is a unit of one.
Look to see how you can continue to
improve yourself.
Ultimate satisfaction knowing you gave
everything to help your team.
Enjoy the victory you deserve.
Take time to thank God for your
abilities.
Humble yourself and others will lift you
up.
Unselfishly give your time to accomplice
your goals.
Never, never give up.
Determine what you want and go after it.
Earn the respect of others by always
giving your best.
Remember, softball is a team sport, not
a "me" sport.
May God Bless You All,
Alice Turner
